In this event in the Jewish Studies Speaker Series, Brad Stone focuses on the often-overlooked role the Union Navy played in helping to win the Civil War and the important advancements made by the Navy. These include the rise of ironclads and submarines, the use of amphibious warfare, the first attempts at aircraft carriers and hospital ships, the widespread adoption of racially integrated crews and the lecture will refer to influential Jewish leaders in the Union Navy.
