Over two evenings, this conference explores women's experiences in non-Western civilizations during and after the Second World War. The examination will include several countries and situations.

The conference will start on May 7, 2025, at 6 p.m. with introductory remarks by Wendy Adele-Marie, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor of History and Coordinator of Jewish Studies at Oakton College. After the end of each evening session, there will be time for Q&A. Camille Harrison, Ph.D., Chair of Modern Languages, Oakton College, will lead the closing statement at the end of the conference on May 8.

The conference proceedings will be published in Adele-Marie’s forthcoming OER workbook, History of Women in Non-Western Civilizations. Oakton will also offer the course Women in Non-Western Civilizations (HIS 237) online and asynchronously in the summer of 2025 to further complement the conference.
