“During 22 seconds, I felt my soul leave my body and enter a heavenly garden filled with vibrant colors, fragrant flowers, and a radiant sun. Overwhelmed with excitement, joy, peace, and love, my soul was a body of white light, free from pain, sorrow, regret, and the past. When asked if I wanted to continue living, I instantly said, ‘Yes!’ and opened my eyes in the surgery room.”

This exhibition expresses the artist’s desire to reconnect with heaven after a near-death experience. The weightless tulle and 3D compositions create a subtle body of light, evoking peace without fear. Gabriela Leyva is a Mexican artist who specializes in the creation of mixed media works and installations. She is also a psychotherapist who skillfully integrates her interest in psychology with her artwork. 

The Public Reception is on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Viewings take place Thursday, May 9 - June 28, 2024, during regular museum hours.
