About this Event
Ryan Szimanski, curator of the Battleship New Jersey Museum and Memorial, discusses the impact Theodore Roosevelt had on the United States Navy during his political career. When he took over as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, the United States Navy couldn't fulfill its mission as a coast defense force, but by the end of his presidency, the Great White Fleet proved the Navy could project power around the world. We will look at the expansion of the Navy and how the policies started by President Roosevelt continue to influence naval policy today.
