  • Information Session: 1-12 Pre-majors and Pathways at Oakton (Room 1604)

Presented by the 1-12 Education Department

 

  • Panel: Exploring the field of Early Childhood Education: What are my options? (Room 1625)

A panel of professionals will present various opportunities in the field of early childhood education. They will explore career opportunities, programs of study, and scholarships.
 

Session 2

10:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Choose one of the following events to attend.

 

  • Workshop: Putting Developmentally Appropriate Practice Into Action (Room 1604)

In this hands-on session, participants will interact with developmentally appropriate materials from ages birth to eight years. Creating DAP lesson plans will also be considered. 

 

  • Workshop: Becoming a Multilingual  / Multicultural or EL - Endorsed Teacher (Room 1608)

In this session, attendees will learn about the growing, in-demand fields of Multilingual / Multicultural Education and English Language Education, and gain insights into the experiences of those currently working in these areas. Presented by: Dr. Lindsey Rose, Bilingual Education Program Coordinator, Evanston Township High School and Dr. Kristin Lems, EdD, Professor, EL/Bilingual Education, National Louis University.

 

  • Workshop: Encouraging Literacy in a Digital Age (Room 1625)

In this session, attendees will learn and share ideas and activities about how to get students from K-12 to engage more with–and enjoy!–reading in a world with so many distractions. Presented by: Michelle Oh, Associate Professor of Library, Oakton College.
